New diabetes clinic

KOZHIKODE: Nearly 30 to 40 per cent of patients who frequent hospitals with eye problems have diabetes, most often not detected, said K.S. Chandrakant, chairman, Malabar Diabetes Foundation (MDF) and Research Centre.

Diabetes is a silent killer and can affect the eyes, kidneys, heart and nerves of the patient.

Early detection and management of diabetes is essential, Dr. Chandrakant said.

Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem will inaugurate the centre at a function at Parish Hall at English Church Junction at 4 p.m. on June 10.

Forest Minister Benoy Viswom will inaugurate the Hb Gold Laboratory.
