Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: The former Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash on Friday inaugurated a painting exhibition on the ruins of the Vijayanagar Empire at the Chaitanyamayi Art Gallery here.

The paintings by Vijaykumar Koppad, K. Basavaraj and Udaykumar Bagali would be on display for public viewing for five days.

Mr. Prakash lauded the gallery for giving exposure to young artists by organising such an exhibition. More than 30 works are on display.

The former Minister Mirajuddin Patel, chairman of the gallery and artist A.S. Patil, and member of the Karnataka Lalithkala Academy Mohan Seetnur were present.

Mr. Seetnur said exhibitions should be held in different parts of the State to encourage artists.

The academy would support such efforts, he added.
