`Overwhelming response'

Government to organise biotechnology awareness programmes

BANGALORE: As many as 500 one-to-one business meetings for potential collaborations and partnerships were held during the three-day "Bangalore Bio-2006."

Over 72 national and international speakers, 600 conference delegates and 150 exhibitors from 20 countries participated in the event, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, chairperson of the Karnataka Vision Group on Biotechnology, said at a press conference here on Friday. Ms. Shaw termed this year's show a "big success."

The response from was overwhelming. Anup K. Pujari, Principal Secretary, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology, said biotechnology awareness programmes would be launched by the State Government.
