KAT pulls up Government over transfers
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) has admonished the Government on its policy of transferring officials, and asked it to adhere to its own guidelines on regulating transfers. The KAT has declared that the transfer of police personnel is governed by a Government Order of November 22, 2001, and not by Section 26 of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963.
A Division Bench of the KAT, comprising its chairman, A.V. Srinivasa Reddy, and administrative member, P. Kotalinganagoud, passed an order on an application by R. Lakshmana, Assistant Commissioner of Police, and M.M. Agadi, Deputy Superintendent of Police. It quashed their transfers, saying that they were contrary to the policy guidelines.
