Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: One person was killed and two were injured when a KSRTC bus rammed a moped and a bicycle on Friday.

The police said the incident occurred around 8.30 a.m. on Mysore Road, off Krishnapriya Kalyana Mantap, in Kengeri police station limits.

Following brake failure, the driver of the bus bound for Mysore first rammed a moped and then a bicycle. The bus came to halt after hitting a roadside electric post, the police said. Basavaraj (50), who was riding the bicycle, was killed on the spot. He was a farmer and resident of Kengeri. Two men, who were riding the moped, suffered severe injuries and they have been admitted to NIMHANS.

Following the accident, the bus driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away. The Kengeri police have registered a case and seized the bus. The passengers of the bus escaped unhurt, the police said.
