Atwal tied 59th

New York: Arjun Atwal's form suddenly ditched him when he reached the turn and a card of two-over 73 put to rest his hopes of a top-10 finish as the Orlando-based Indian ended tied 59th after the penultimate round in the Barclays Classic here. This was Atwal's worst round of the week so far and he aggregated a three-day total of three-over 216.

Starting on his back nine, Atwal, however, looked in prime form as he overcame a couple of dropped shots to finish his halfway journey at one-under.

At the top of the table American Billy Andrade fired a two-under 69 to grab the lead at eight-under 205, one stroke adrift of overnight leader Vijay Singh and Adam Scott.

Chowrasia inside top 10

Shiv Shankar Prasad Chowrasia proved that he could mix it with the cream of Asia when he finished inside the top-ten in the Bangkok Airways Open, at the Santiburi Samui Country Club on Sunday.

A two-under 69, one of only seven under-par rounds on the day, gave the Indian a four-day aggregate of three-over 287, and a share of eighth spot with Thais Thaworn Wiratchant and Thongchai Jaidee.

Meanwhile, it was another Thai, Chawalit Plaphol, who claimed the honours following a playoff with Canada's Rick Gibson. The two were tied at three-under 281 after Plaphol fired a 67, the day's best card, and Gibson a 69. — Agencies
