Forensics a lucrative area

T. Muralidharan

Forensic pathology is the application of principles of pathology and medicine to the legal requirements of society. They perform autopsies to determine the cause, manner and the time of death. Detailed examination of a body is essential, as even the position of the body indicates whether the body has been moved and the nature and direction of assault.

These professionals are involved in identification of deceased persons through dental remains, bite mark analysis and examination of oral facial structures for determination of injury, possible malpractice or insurance fraud. Very often while processing Insurance claims, the correct identification of the deceased (insured) becomes a challenging task when there is a foul play involved.
