Government appoints three Additional Advocate Generals

CHENNAI: The State Government has appointed P.S. Raman, S. Ramaswamy and S. Veeraraghavan as Additional Advocate Generals I, II and III. While Mr. Raman has been appointed in place of R. Muthukumaraswamy who has resigned, Mr. Ramaswamy takes the place of A.L. Somayaji, also resigned. Mr. Veeraraghavan replaces Bader Sayeed, a press release here said. All three appointments were notified through a G.O on Saturday.

Mr. Raman, an alumnus of Loyola College and Madras Law College, is a lawyer of 22 years standing, practising in the Supreme Court and the Madras High Court. He is the son of V.P. Raman, former Advocate General of Tamil Nadu and Additional Solicitor General of India.

Mr. Ramaswamy, an alumnus of St.Xavier's College, Palayamkottai, and Madras Law College, served as Additional City Public Prosecutor, Chennai during 1988 and 1989 and was Special Public Prosecutor during 1996-2001. Mr. Veeraraghavan, an advocate of the Madras High Court for 39 years, works as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel and Senior Central Government Standing Counsel from December 1980, both of which positions he has held for more than 25 years. He has appeared in civil and criminal cases in the Supreme Court and Madras High Court.
