Rajdhani to run more trips

NEW DELHI: Catering to the summer rush of passengers, Northern Railway has decided to run 14 more trips of the Rajdhani Special train no. 2954A/2953A between Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and Mumbai Central. The train will depart from Nizamuddin railway station at 2-50 p.m. every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday from June 18 till July 2 to reach Mumbai Central at 8-20 a.m. the following day.

Free health camp organised

NEW DELHI: Escorts Heart Research Institute in association with Sunder Lal Jain Hospital organised a free medical check-up camp at Geeta Bhavan Dharamshala in Kamla Nagar here on Sunday. The one-day camp gave people the opportunity to meet counsellors and specialists and learn more about diabetes and heart diseases.

Chairman of Sunder Lal Jain Hospital Chandraprakash said: "Fifty per cent of patients with diabetes are susceptible to heart complications. Moreover, a diabetic patient has 70 per cent more chances of acquiring heart diseases. In diabetic patients, blood vessels become thicker which may result in heart attacks."

BJP wants MCD dissolved

NEW DELHI: The Working Committee of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party has unanimously passed a resolution demanding dissolution of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and holding of fresh elections. At a meeting held at the party headquarters here on Saturday, the Working Committee warned the State Government not to try and postpone the MCD elections as it would otherwise have to "face terrible consequences".

Charging the Congress Councillors with corruption, the Committee has called for immediate dissolution of the MCD. "By stopping the demolition drive for only a year, it is clear that the State Government is playing a political game with total involvement of Congress Councillors. Further, the arrests of more than a dozen Congress Councillors by the CBI on charges of corruption is proof of the decline of the MCD," said Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan.

Dengue, malaria can be prevented

NEW DELHI: A group of experts, including Heart Care Foundation of India president K.K. Aggarwal and physician at Safdarjung Hospital Charanjeet Singh, have said both dengue and malaria can be prevented by the same strategies. At an educational programme organised by the Indian Medical Association's South Delhi branch in association with Moolchand Board of Medical Education this past week, the experts suggested spraying of houses and cleaning of water coolers once a week to prevent mosquito breeding.
