HYDERABAD: Punjab bagged a double winning the boys and girls titles in the 24th Junior National softball championship at Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Sunday. In the boys final, Punjab scored an easy 8-0 win over Madhya Pradesh with Amrinder (2 runs), Ishandeep, Jobanjeet, Mehtab, Rakesh, Gurmangat and Sumit scoring one run apiece. Earlier, Chandigarh settled for the third place defeating Orissa 6-2. Punjab girls downed a fighting Madhya Pradesh 8-4. Neha, Madhvi and Reena scored twice. Nidhi, Arshi, Seetal and Surbhi got one run each. Prasanjit Pradhan of Orissa in boys' section and Reena of Punjab in girls' category were given best players prizes. The results: Boys' semifinals: Punjab bt Orissa 8-4; MP bt Chandigarh 4-1. Girls: Punjab bt Rajasthan 12-2; MP bt Delhi 10-0. Third place: Delhi bt Rajasthan 6-4. Principal Correspondent
