NEW DELHI: World champion Veselin Topalov made short work of Spain's Francisco Vallejo and won the best of four-game semifinals 2.5-0.5 to earn the right to challenge five-time champion Viswanathan Anand in the final of the Magistral Ciudad de Leon active chess tournament in Leon on Saturday. Topalov, not known for his skills in the 20-minute active games, won the first with white pieces in 51 moves and doubled the lead with a 34-move shutout of Vallejo in the second with black. In the third, Topalov settled for a 48-move draw and set up the much-awaited clash with Anand in the final.
