Congress leader's charge against Government

Staff Correspondent

`It favours the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi, which is pursuing an anti-Karnataka agenda'

  • Exercise said to violate Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act
  • Writ petition to be filed in Karnataka High Court

Belgaum: The Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government in the State is apprehensive about its prospects in the elections to six city municipal corporations, including Belgaum.

Therefore, it has deliberately created "potential pretexts" prompting Opposition parties and individuals to approach the courts to seek a stay on the elections, according to Ramesh L. Kudachi, Congress MLA for Belgaum and Siddangouda Patil, leader of a Kannada organisation, even as they announced the decision to file a writ petition in the Karnataka High Court.
