HYDERABAD: The city police on Sunday arrested two persons at a hotel in Secunderabad on charges of possessing unaccounted gold jewellery weighing seven kgs worth Rs. 63 lakhs. Manish Jain, 30 and Amit Parasmul Nanavathi, 24, both natives of Mumbai were nabbed after the police raided a hotel on MG Road in Secunderabad early on June 10. The duo was found under suspicious circumstances in the room no. 107 of Amardeep hotel. After checking the room, the police found gold jewellery. Manish and Amit failed to give satisfactory replies about the possession of the gold. Documentary evidence was also not shown to police. Manish and Amit claimed they were businessmen from Mumbai, Ramgopalpet Sub-Inspector Narasimha Reddy said. According to the police, a strategy has been adopted to check all the lodges in the twin cities at night as many offenders were taking shelter in lodges and hotels after committing the offence. This move would also help the police in preventing the crime. A series of meetings were held with hotel managements to sensitise them about the new initiative.
