Residents' forum distributes books

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Bharatinagar Residents' Forum distributed free notebooks to over 500 slum children here on Sunday.

N.S. Ravi, president of the forum, said the forum had been doing such charity work by distributing blankets, clothes and books to slum children for the past eight years. He said tokens were distributed to children, which were then exchanged for the books. However, nearly 300 children did not get the books on Sunday owing to shortage.

Mr. Ravi, who is also the general secretary of the city unit of the Janata Dal (United), apologised to them and promised that the books would reach them within the next few days. "The residents of the area have contributed generously this year. The forum also plans to donate 15 computers to the government school in the area next month," he said.
