Rupee ends higher


MUMBAI: The rupee ended strong against the U.S. currency on Monday on heavy dollar sales along with strong trade inflow. In active trading at the interbank forex exchange market here, the Indian unit started firm at 45.93/95 a dollar against the previous close of 45.9575/9650 and after moving in a wide range of 45.8600 and 45.9700, ended at 45.9125/9225, notably higher than the previous close.

State-owned banks were said to be selling dollar on behalf of the Reserve Bank of India, while good trade inflow also made the Indian currency firm, dealers said.
