Students, right I have closely analysed the interviews of the toppers of standards X and XII appeared in the dailies. Interestingly, all of them said they had had cable connections in TVs in their homes cut. This statement of the toppers should serve as an eye-opener to parents whose children appear for public examinations. Kudos to the toppers. R. Nagarajan, Salem. Commentary . The running cricket commentary in All India Radio (AIR) is still relished by a number of listeners. AIR normally gives commentary in Hindi and English. But, surprisingly, AIR does not follow this practice in the case of the ongoing West Indies-India cricket matches. The English commentary has been reduced from 15 minutes to hardly a few minutes and is given on a piecemeal basis as an "expert comment" during the middle of the Hindi commentary. Because of this, cricket lovers who do not know Hindi cannot follow the game. AIR should revert to the earlier practice. C. Bhaskaran, Erode. Public hit Petrol price hike will affect the middle class because June is the time for admissions to schools and colleges. Parents will be burdened with tuition, capitation fee, wedding expense etc. The Government should put off the hike till September. M.S. Sankaran, Palani. (Send mail to wscbe@thehindu.co.in)
