Kamat is new SFI president

KOCHI: Goa's Power Minister Digambar Kamat is the new president of the Swimming Federation of India. The elections, for a four-year term, were held at the SFI's annual general body meeting in Margao on Sunday.

Gujarat's Virendra Nanavati has been re-elected general secretary, while Kerala's S. Rajiv will be the new treasurer.

"Since we are hosting the Commonwealth Youth Games (Pune 2008) and the Commonwealth Games (New Delhi 2010), we have decided to bring in foreign coaches for our long-term camps," said Nanavati on Monday.

The office-bearers:

Life Presidents: B. Sivanthi Adityan and K.N. Kapur; President: Digambar Kamat (Goa).

Vice-presidents: Ramanuj Mukhopadhyay (Ben), Balraj Sharma (Pun), T.D. Vijayraghavan (Kar), Bhawani Shankar Sharma (M.P.) and Pitamber Jena (Ori).
