Medical camp conducted for students

31 found to suffer from eye defects

TIRUCHI: The first medical inspection camp in the district conducted at the Government Higher Secondary School, Thiruvellarai, on Monday benefited 1,031 students. With the Chief Educational Officer, R. Baskara Sethuapathy inaugurating, the District Educational Officer, Lalgudi Education District, K. Balasubramanian delivered special address on the occasion underlining the importance of maintaining good health of students, which, he noted, will help them achieve academic excellence.

A team of doctors, including Rengasamy, Chitra and Poongothai Jegadeesan, screened the students for various general disorders and offered useful suggestions to them.

Dr. Dicky and her team from Joseph Eye Hospital in Tiruchi screened the students for eye disorders.

A total of 31 students were found to suffer from eye defects and the eye hospital has come forward to provide them treatment free of cost.

ENT specialist, N. Soundarrajan of Janakiram Hospital also diagnosed the students and 96 students with ENT defects will be treated free of cost at the Hospital.

According to the Headmaster of the School, R. Venugopal and Assistant Headmaster, P. Vijayakandeepan, there was a good response from the students for the medical camp.
