Baby's murder: father to undergo lie detector test
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Mystery over the alleged murder of an infant, whose headless body was found at Vanasthalipuram on Sunday, deepened with the forensic doctors reportedly seeking some more time to ascertain if the wounds were inflicted by animal bites or weapons. The Vanasthalipuram police decided to subject the victim's father Seshaiah, a labourer, to lie detector test.
A sickle with traces of blood was recovered from his hut. Investigators feel that chances of dogs dragging the baby were remote.
A baby weighing 2.5 kg would have 250 ml of blood. But nearly 150 ml blood was found near the place where Seshaiah and his family slept on Saturday night.
This suggests the baby was killed there, ruling out the possibility of dogs dragging it away.
Dejected over girl child
Seshaiah's brother Ramulu, who attended the cradle ceremony of the baby on Saturday, reportedly told police that his brother was dejected over the birth of a girl for third time. "In our village, we're told that if we sacrifice the female child within one year of its birth, God would bless us with a baby boy next time," the police quoted him.
