Holiday for schools

KOCHI: All Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan schools, including nurseries, will remain closed on Tuesday in view of the hartal called by the LDF to protest against the hike in fuel prices. Holiday has been declared for The Choice School, Chinmaya School, Vaduthala, Greets Public School, Shree Vidyadhiraja Seva Mission School and St Paul's International School. The Greets School will function on Saturday. — Staff Reporter

Passports issued

KOCHI: Regional Passport Office, Cochin, has issued passports for applications received till May 3. Passports have been despatched in the week ending June 9, said the Regional Passport Officer. — Staff Reporter

Exams postponed

KOCHI: The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, has postponed all examinations and interviews that were scheduled to be held on Tuesday. The exams will be held on June 21 and interviews on June 15. — Staff Reporter

Sitting on June 15

KOCHI: The next sitting of the Authority appointed by the Supreme Court in the Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom Trust case will be held at 11 a.m. at the Old High Court Building on June 15, according to an official press release. — Staff Reporter

Cusat to hold LLB exam

KOCHI: The Cochin University of Science and Technology has decided to conduct the first semester LLB examinations that were boycotted by students as part of the students' agitation held on the campus earlier. The examination will be held on July 21. The decision to hold the exam was taken by the Vice- Chancellor considering a request made by students. They had also given a promise that such incidents would not happen on the campus in future, according to a press release issued by the university. — Staff Reporter

Financial aid for farmers

KOCHI: The District Horticultural Mission will provide financial assistance to farmers for various projects, including vermicompost and pineapple farming. Farmers have to submit their application forms at the Krishi Bhavans concerned on or before June 15. — Staff Reporter

Plea on rubber procurement

KOCHI: The Kerala State Co-operative Marketing Societies' Association has urged the Government to procure rubber directly from farmers in view of the increase in rubber prices in the country. — Staff Reporter

Five arrested

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Town Central Police arrested five persons on Monday on charges of robbery and burglary. They were identified as Anil Kumar, 30, of Mavelikkara, Radhakrishnan, 40, of Pookkaranmukku, Ernakulam, Pradeep, 26, of Kumbalanghi, Ani, 21, of Shangumugham, Thiruvananthapuram and Babu, 33, of Gandhi Nagar, Ernakulam. — Staff Reporter
