HYDERABAD: After the theft beside Police Commissioner's office, it is now burglary behind the DGP's office! Thieves made off with 25 tolas of gold ornaments from police quarters in Lakadikapool on Sunday night while detectives were still struggling to trace the culprits responsible for stealing six cameras from a building beside the Hyderabad Police Commissioner's office at Basheerbagh the day before. The burglary in house No. 10 belonging to Inspector Somanna, who is working at Lakkireddypalli in Kadapa district, came to light on Monday morning. The theft was committed when the Inspector's wife Malleswari was at her relative's house. She returned home in the morning only to find the lock of the main door broken and the jewellery stolen. "The Inspector's family packed its belongings and was supposed to move to Lakkireddipally on Sunday but postponed it since it could not get a vehicle," Saifabad Additional Inspector Sudheer said. He said Ms. Malleswari had forgotten to lock the almirah, which made the job of the offenders easy. The thieves lifted jewellery from the almirah and a suitcase.
