Court calls for inspection of school buses
Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
A Division Bench of the High Court has directed the Commissioner of Transport to take up monthly inspection of vehicles transporting schoolchildren.
The Bench, dealing with a writ petition in this regard, had called for a report from various districts. When the report was placed before the Bench, the Judges expressed anguish that nearly 30 per cent of buses were found not up to the mark. The Commissioner of Transport was summoned to the court in the afternoon.
He gave an undertaking that all steps would be taken to inspect vehicles that are more than 15 years.
All school buses would be inspected thoroughly and periodically. The Bench adjourned the mater for submission of a comprehensive report.
Directive to MCH
A Division Bench High Court directed the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad to take steps for rehabilitation of those conducting business on footpaths.
The Government Pleader submitted comprehensive plans made for hawkers.
The Bench said due notice should be given to them to enable them to shift to alternative place. Physically challenged persons should be permitted to conduct business in bylanes.
