NEW DELHI: Several Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Members of Parliament, lost their mobile phones during a rally organised here on Monday to protest against the recent increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. Suspecting that a gang of pickpockets was active during the rally at Jantar Mantar, party sources said at least a dozen MPs and scores of activists lost their mobile phones, with some others complaining of lost wristwatches and even wallets. The theft was first detected by the party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar who searched for his mobile phone to make a call soon after courting arrest at the Parliament Street police station. Within minutes others also realised that their mobiles, too, were gone. For others it was worse, as their wristwatches and wallets had also disappeared. While Mr. Javadekar claimed that complaints had been lodged, officers at the Parliament Street police station said no such complaints had been received.
