ICICI OneSource's overseas centres

Staff Correspondent

MUMBAI: ICICI OneSource, a leading business process outsourcing (BPO) company, has announced that it will invest in setting up outsourcing centres in Northern Ireland creating around 1,000 jobs over the next two years. The investment, supported by Invest Northern Ireland (INI), is expected to deliver over 28 million pounds (Rs. 235 crore) in wages and salaries to the local economy by 2008.

Addressing the media, Ananda Mukerji, Managing Director and CEO, ICICI OneSource, said the first centre would go live on July 31.

"The first of our two centres in the U.K. will come up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and will create in excess of 400 jobs and the second one, also in Northern Ireland, will come up in a couple of months," he said.

Mr. Mukerji said the centres were not meant for the mainland European market and were primarily for the U.K. market.

"Our focus is the U.S. and the U.K. and there is a lot of work because BPO penetration has not been much in these markets."
