Coimbatore : The City Police Commissioner, Karan Singha, has said that those planning to set up fire cracker shops for the Deepavali festival (falling on October 21) should submit their applications on or before July 20. Mr. Singha said that those residing within the Coimbatore City Police limits, including the newly annexed Podanur and Kuniamuthur police limits, were eligible to apply for the temporary cracker shop licences. The application form number 4 affixed with a court fee stamp for Rs. 2 should be submitted with a challan vouching for remittance of Rs. 150 licence fee paid either at the treasury or at a bank, six copies of the blue print of the place where the crackers would be stored and sold, if the premises is own property then property tax remittance receipt, if rented premises a no objection from the property owner in a stamp paper with signature of the witness, if the place belonged to the Corporation or the PWD then a no-objection certificate from them. The application should have a no-objection certificate from the Fire and Rescue Services department, the respective local body and receipt for the licence fee paid to the local body. No application shall be entertained after 5 p.m. on July 20. Licence would be issued only after perusing safety considerations and as per the guidelines of the Explosives Control Department. No licence would be issued for road-side shops.
