THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dwellings that cater to the needs and tastes of professionals working in different sectors and also suit the new work culture are becoming a fad in the Capital too. This is perhaps the direct outcome of the park culture that has gained prominence of late in the State too. The Capital now claims the credit of having the Technopark, Apparel Park and also the Film and Video Park. A new cluster of houses, designed primarily for the IT professionals, will be coming up close to the Technopark campus. According to K.K. Namboodiri, who has conceived the project, the new houses have been primarily designed keeping in mind the needs of those working in the IT companies. For, they do not have fixed working schedules and should always be available on call round the clock. Security is the main concern of such professionals and their main demand is to have secure houses close to their place of work. The focus is on building up an entirely different environment. In addition to the housing units, it comprises commercial complex and also a clubhouse. This is more or less a modelled on housing clusters that have come up in Bangalore, the IT hub of the country. Right from shopping to medical care, everything will be provided under one roof, Mr. Namboodiri says. Multiplexes that have come up in the metros have also set such a trend. One of the main advantage of such complexes is that people belonging to different age groups can get themselves engaged the way they prefer. The project for IT professionals may also be a trend-setter, says Mr.Namboodiri.
