NDTV 24X7 launches `Southern Edition'

Staff Reporter

Daily news programme catering to T.N., Karnataka and Kerala

NEW DELHI: English news channel NDTV 24X7 on Tuesday announced the launch of `Southern Edition' — a daily news programme using the Opt-Out telecast technology — for its viewers in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

The `Southern Edition' will be on air every weekday on NDTV 24X7 at 7.30 p.m. On weekends, there will be a bouquet of region-specific programming.

Region-specific news

With the help of the latest technology — a first in India — it will be possible for the viewers to see news specific to their region even as the national telecast continues. There will be no physical intervention for switching over from the national to the regional news and then back to the national beam. The changeover will take only two seconds and it will be done through satellite.
