New Delhi: World Champion M.C. Marykom and Aswathi Prabha reached the finals in their respective weight categories as Indian pugilists ensured nine medals in the women's Open boxing tournament in Hanoi, Vietnam. Besides the two finalists, seven members of the team entered the semifinals, a release issued by the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation said on Tuesday. Marykom and Aswathi Prabha reached the finals of the 46-kg and 57-kg categories respectively, while, Jhahnabi Gogoi (48kg), Chhoto (50kg), Preeti Beniwal (54kg), Pranamika Borah (60kg), Ibemcha Devi (63 kg), Kavita (66kg) and Aswathy Mol (70kg) have qualified for the semifinals. Six boys also entered the semifinals of the Asian cadet championships and as per the rules both the losing finalists win the bronze medal. Nanao Singh Thokchom (46kg), Bhoopender (48kg), Sunil (50kg), Roshan Singh (52kg), Akshay Kumar (54kg) and Manjeet Singh (75kg) are the semifinalists. PTI
