Bangalore: Reliance Communications has tied up with Intel to offer instant and uninterrupted Internet connectivity for Intel-powered personal computers (PCs) in a bid to penetrate tier 3 and tier 4 cities and towns. The offer, which will be available in 11 towns and cities in the State, would be gradually introduced in other cities and towns across the country, Reliance Communications' Head of Post-paid Business Inder Bajaj told presspersons here on Tuesday. Intel India Managing Director (Sales and Marketing) John McClure said the tier 3 and tier 4 cities in India were among the fastest growing markets for PCs and the trend would continue for the next couple of years. Intel, which launched its World Ahead Programme in India, wanted to accelerate access to uncompromised technology and the Internet across the country using Reliance connectivity at affordable rates through a wide-channel partner network. The major buyers of PCs in these segments were consumers and schools, he said. Under the new initiative, genuine Intel dealers will provide PC buyers with Internet-enabled Reliance fixed wireless phones in Belgaum, Bellary, Bhatkal, Chitradurga, Davangere, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Hospet, Mandya, Shimoga and Karwar. Mr. Bajaj said the agreement with Intel was yet another step forward in Reliance Communications' commitment to bringing about a digital revolution in India by changing the way Indians communicate, get entertained and do business.
