DCW wins first division title

TUTICORIN: Dhrangathar Chemical Works (DCW), Sahupuram posted a comfortable 165-run victory over defending champion Seconds CC `A' in a crucial match and won the first division title with a tally of 12 points in seven games in the Tuticorin District Cricket Association league here recently.

The highlight of the match was Whitefield's knock of 92 for DCW.

DCW 237 in 40 overs (Whitefield 92) bt Seconds CC `A' 72 in 19.4 overs.

Pusco 162 for nine in 40 overs (Renwick 43) bt DCW 147 in 32.4 overs.

Pusco 106 in 33.4 overs (Jegan four for 18) lost to Power 109 for two in 12.2 overs.

Sealines 262 for seven in 40 overs (Reagan 43, Crispin 50) bt Gavaskar 195 in 35.2 overs (Prabhakar 62, Vimal four for 39, Jinnah four for 48).

Seconds `A' 172 in 39.1 overs (Murali Kannan 96) lost to Sealines 174 for seven in 30.3 overs (Raja 73).

Power 238 for nine in 40 overs (Ganesh 69, Ramesh 74, Mohd. Hyas four for 50) bt Pearl City 152 in 30.8 overs (Mohd. Hyas 53, Riaz 45, Jeganathan four for 18).

Narrow win for LMCC

LMCC posted a seven-run win over Wings Cricket Club in the TNCA-CDCA second division league in Coimbatore recently.

The scores (second division): LMCC 215 for nine in 50 overs (Selvakumar 44) bt Wings CC 208 in 45.1 overs (Edwin 41); Robert Stanes MC 184 for nine in 50 overs lost to Surya Bala Cricketers 190 for seven in 39.2 overs (Arumugapandi 62); Rainbow CC 213 in 38.1 overs (Nataraj 58) bt R.S. Puram CC 194 in 48.3 overs (Thiagarajan 44); Indian CC 199 in 49.3 overs bt AEP CC 61 in 20.3 overs (Venkatesan four for 23).

Easy for Kumar CC

Kumar Cricket Club defeated Chandramouli Cricket Club by six wickets in the TNCA-SDCA first division league at the Government Engineering College `A' grounds in Salem recently.

The scores (first division): Chandramouli CC 98 in 42 overs (Sarathy 42, Amirthalingam four for 26) lost to Kumar CC 99 for four in 28 overs (Abudhagir 48); Students Senior CC 192 for six in 35 overs (S.V. Karthikeyan 55, L. Arun Kumar 49) lost to Prime CC 194 for four in 35 overs (Padmanapan 52 n.o.).

Second division: Sunil CC 173 in 40 overs lost to Salvo CC 174 for six in 31 overs (Siddeswaran 48, Rajkumar 40 n.o.); RTP CC 142 in 40 overs lost to S. Rao CC 143 for four in 25 overs.

State-ranking tennis
