VIJAYAWADA: The Horticulture Department took a group of 80 farmers from different parts of the district on a six-day tour to Tamil Nadu to study research activities there. The tour was aimed at providing local farmers an idea of the farm practices and quality of agricultural inputs in the neighbouring State. The farmers would visit Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Coimbatore, and Botanical Gardens at Ooty. The university is stated to have a good track record in developing viable new varieties of paddy and other crops.
Bio-dynamics
At biological gardens, the farmers would be exposed to various techniques of bio-dynamics. Horticulture officials from Nuzvid and Tiruvuru have accompanied the farmers, who constituted vegetable and horticulture crops. Farmers were selected from vegetable growing areas like Avanigadda and Challapalli, and mango growing areas like Nuzvid and Agiripalli.
