dated June 14, 1956: Vidhana Soudha

"Government work is God's work" - this saying, embossed in bold type at the entrance to the Vidhana Soudha building in Bangalore, will catch the eye of everyone getting up the flight of steps before entering the main hall. The construction of the Vidhana Soudha is nearing completion but for the central dome, which is likely to be finished by the end of September. The dome will be 192 feet high from the ground level and it is proposed to construct an observation gallery at the 160-foot level, from where one can have a panoramic view of the whole city. The Secretariat and the Houses of Legislature will function in the new building from October.
