KURNOOL: Vijaya Durga Cardiac Center here was accorded recognition by the Government for treatment of its employees and their dependents covered under the reimbursement programme, chief cardiologist Vansantha Kumar has said. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Dr. Kumar said the hospital had already collaborated with the Central Government installations like BSNL and Insurance Companies for treating its employees. Dr. Kumar said that in an important development, the hospital started using the world-class drug- tissue type plasminogen activator (tPA)- in treatment of blood clotting in pulmonary thrombo embolism. The drug, which costs between Rs. 37,000 and Rs. 70,000 depending upon the dose required, was extensively used in the US and Europe except India.
