HASSAN: Taking exception to the apathy of Education Department in conducting counselling of teachers as directed by the Government, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader B. Shivappa said that "wilful negligence" on part of the authorities concerned had created problems for teachers in the district. He urged the Government to initiate action against the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI). Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, he noted that same was the case with other government departments. He said that in the Animal Husbandry Department, officials were being harassed in the name of transfer. Seeking a probe into the alleged transfer scandal in the district, Mr. Shivappa said that though it was the responsibility of the bureaucrats to implement the decisions of the Government, they were not doing so. Gurunanjaiah, who is contesting for the South Teachers' Constituency seat as BJP candidate in the Council election, said that he had brought the plight of teachers in the district to the notice of Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Basavaraja Horatti, and urged him to interfere in the matter.
