MANGALORE: Mangalore Agriculturists' Sahakari Sangha (MASS) Limited, a cooperative society of farmers dealing mainly with procurement and marketing of white arecanut, will open an arecanut sales centre at Junagadh in Gujarat on June 25, according to Sridhar G. Bhide, sangha president. The sangha executive committee had approved the opening of the new centre at as meeting here on Monday, Mr. Bhide told The Hindu on Tuesday. This would be the second arecanut selling centre of the sangha in Gujarat. A sub-branch had been opened at Ahmedabad.
Expansion plan
Arecanut would be sold in quintals and in small packets at the Junagadh centre. MASS Limited had plans to expand its network in Gujarat by opening more selling centres. A survey would be conducted in this regard. There was plan to open a selling centre in Pune, he said.
Marketing honey
Mr. Bhide said the committee had approved to market the honey processed and packed by Puttur-based South Canara Bee Keepers' Society. MASS Limited would sell the honey at its centres, he added.
