Islamabad: The only Hindu temple in Lahore has been demolished to construct a multi-storeyed commercial building, in violation of the managing Trust Board's laws. Quoting documents the Pakistani daily The Dawnsaid the officials did not divulge that the property was a Hindu temple as it could have led to rejection of the request. Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB) administrator Chaudhry Javed Bashir allegedly concealed facts from the board chairman about the Rang Mahal temple, EPTB sources said, adding a Hindu temple in Vehari was demolished last year for the construction of a commercial building during Mr Bashir's posting there. The EPTB Scheme for Management and Disposal of Urban Evacuee Trust Properties, 1977, prohibits the sale or demolition of an evacuee trust property that is part of appurtenance to a shrine, a religious place or a building of historical or architectural importance.
