BANGALORE: Police have arrested 29 persons and recovered property worth Rs. 78 lakh from them over a period of one month, Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh said here on Tuesday. Mr. Singh handed over keys to some of the owners of the 18 vehicles recovered by the police, including a luxury car of a businessman, at an informal function. He also returned to the owners some of the ornaments recovered in incidents of burglary and presented cash awards to policemen. The city's North division police arrested 12 persons, including two persons involved in cheating two textile firms in Coimbatore. The police recovered Rs. 51.25 lakh worth property, which includes cotton fabrics, a car, and gold and silver ornaments. The Malleswaram police arrested two persons who had allegedly assaulted Ullas Bhat, a businessman, and robbed him of his car near Jayadeva Hospital a month ago. Ullas Bhat got back his car on Tuesday. The Mahalakshmi Layout police arrested four persons of a gang involved in six cases of robbery. They recovered gold ornaments and four mobile phones. The Subramanyanagar police have arrested a person on charges of burglary and recovered articles worth Rs. 4 lakh from him. The South Division police arrested five persons and recovered property worth Rs. 9.4 lakh from them. Among the recovered articles were three Maruti vans, two autorickshaws, and 10 two-wheelers. The West Division police arrested 12 persons and recovered 17 lakh worth property from them. Among the cases that were solved was the burglary in the house of Mumtaz in Chandra Layout police station from where articles worth Rs. 5 lakh were stolen on June 1. Today Mumtaz received the stolen materials, which included 628 grams of gold jewellery, from the Police Commissioner. The Jnanabharati police arrested four persons on the charge of murdering Nagaraju, a realtor, in ITI Layout on May 21.
