Woman assaulted; five arrested

NEW DELHI: A young divorcee was allegedly criminally assaulted by two of her neighbours and their three accomplices at Najafgarh on Tuesday. The police have arrested the five men. According to the police, the victim's neighbours offered her a lift and drove to a field where three others were waiting. The five men then allegedly criminally assaulted her.

Four held for murder

NEW DELHI: Four persons have been arrested by the North-West Delhi police for allegedly robbing and killing an accountant at Jehangirpuri in North-West Delhi on June 3. According to the police, the body of K.B. Goel was found on GT Road on June 3 morning. He had been stabbed several times.

Following investigations, the police arrested Raju, Dhananjay, Shahnawaz and Kishan at GT Karnal Road on Monday. At their instance, the police recovered the alleged weapon of offence and the looted amount along with some documents belonging to Mr. Goel.

The police said Mr. Goel usually took an auto-rickshaw to reach home from his office in Adarsh Nagar. On the fateful night, he decided to walk as there were no auto-rickshaws around. The accused attacked him assuming that he might be carrying huge amount of cash. When Mr. Goel offered resistance, they allegedly stabbed him and fled with his briefcase.

Man held for assault

NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old man has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly abducting and criminally assaulting a 21-year-old woman. According to the police, Sonu, a resident of Karawal Nagar, had abducted the woman on June 10 and then criminally assaulted her. The woman was rescued and the accused was arrested on Monday.

`Tantrik' nabbed

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old man claiming to be a "tantrik" was arrested on charges of criminally assaulting a 35-year-old woman at Bhajanpura in North-East Delhi on Tuesday. The victim had gone to the "tantrik" to seek treatment for her drug-addict son when she was assaulted.

Held for receiving graft

NEW DELHI: A clerk with a Government school was arrested at Seemapuri in North-East Delhi on Monday for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs. 500 from a person to clear the payment for a bill. The accused has been identified as Satya Prakash.
