P.K. Thampi's death anniversary

KOLLAM: The eighth death anniversary of the noted journalist and founder member of the Kollam Press Club P.K. Thampi will be observed at the club here on Saturday. A.A. Aziz, MLA, will inaugurate a meeting in this connection.

A seminar on "Cashew industry: problems and hope'' will be inaugurated by Mayor N. Padmalochanan. N. Anirudhan, MLA; Indian National Trade Union Council president K. Sureshbabu; the former Cashew Export Promotion Council chairman P. Bharathan Pillai; and general secretary of the Cashew Manufacturers and Exporters Association A. Chartered accountants' seminar

KOLLAM: T.N. Manoharan, president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), will inaugurate the All-Kerala Chartered Accountants Seminar 2006 here on Friday. The seminar, to be held at Municipal Town Hall, is being organised by the Kollam branch of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the ICAI.

Immediate past president of SIRC V.C. James will deliver the keynote address and SIRC secretary Babu A. Kallivayalil will deliver a special address. Topics to be covered by the seminar include service tax, accounting standards and income tax. These topics will be presented by speakers from Chennai and Bangalore, chairman of the event Murali Krishnan R. said in a statement here. — Staff Reporter
