`Zindagi Express' showcases LIC's achievements over the years

MADURAI: Life Insurance Corporation's Golden Jubilee Exhibition-on-Wheels, `Zindagi Express', which reached here on June 13, showcased more than just insurance policy details and its various schemes. On display were photocopies of insurance policies held by distinguished leaders such as former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and former President Zail Singh.

One exhibit, which stole the limelight, is the receipt of the policy held by `Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi, which was witnessed by independent India's first Indian Governor-General, Rajaji.

The expo also had models of various infrastructure projects such as electricity and housing, sectors on which LIC had invested. It highlighted its tie-ups with foreign countries such as the U.K., Nepal, Bahrain and Sri Lanka.

Flagged off from Safdarjung railway station, New Delhi, by Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Minister of State for Finance, the train has covered 39 districts all over the country. In Tamil Nadu, exhibitions have been held in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai so far.
