Upset wins for Aditya, Sathyanarayana

CHENNAI: V.N. Sathyanarayana Rao (under-16) and Aditya Elango (under-19) caused upsets in the boys' first round of the Krishna Khaitan Memorial all-India junior ranking badminton tournament at the Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.

Sathyanarayana defeated the second seed Parin Chopra (Maharashtra) 21-18, 21-18, while Elango put it across Kousik Pal (West Bengal), the second seed, 19-21, 21-9, 21-16.

In the boys' under-19 section, top seed Jishnu Sanyal of Maharashtra had an easy passage into the second round with a 21-10, 21-11 win over C. Navin Prasad of Tamil Nadu.
