Novel protest against fuel price hike
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE:
The protests against the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel have taken different forms. Kannada Chaluvaligar leader Vatal Nagaraj pulled his Contessa car in front of the Vidhana Soudha.
But it was the State unit of the AIADMK that outdid the others in the matter of protest.
It had "brought its founder MGR himself." A cut-out of MGR placed behind a jutka was the AIADMK way of giving vent to its opposition to the periodic increases in fuel prices.
The AIADMK workers in the city led by State Party leaders Va. Pugazendhi and Chandrashekar marched from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi to Raj Bhavan.
A prominent leader to take part in the protest was the former Tamil Nadu Minister Vijayalakshmi Palaniswamy.
