Move on Gangavaram status deplored

VISAKHAPATNAM: People for India Visakhapatnam Forum has strongly condemned the move to exclude 1,800 acres of Gangavaram Port area from the list of places covered by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).

Reacting to the development, forum convener B.B. Ganesh said on Wednesday that while Ukkunagaram was continuing under the GVMC, what was the rationale behind excluding the Gangavaram port area. "It's nothing but due to vested interests, a private port is being given special favour," he remarked.
