530 police officers transferred

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The State Government on Wednesday created a record by transferring about 530 police officers of the ranks of the Superintendent of Police and inspector at one go.

Of the officers transferred, 98 are Deputy Superintendents of Police and 343 are inspectors. A majority of the inspectors have been posted to Bangalore City.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy holds the Home portfolio and this is the first transfer of police officers done by his Government. While the Department of Administration and Personnel Reforms issued the transfer order of Deputy Superintendents of Police, those of the inspectors were issued by the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police. Such a large-scale transfer of personnel would bring about a sea change in the functioning of the city police, said senior police officials.
