Recording of Telgi's statement adjourned

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vasant Kumar on Wednesday posted the matter of recording the confessional statement of Abdul Kareem Telgi, prime accused in the stamp paper racket, to June 21.

The magistrate adjourned the matter after the Yerwada Central Prison authorities informed the court that Telgi was yet to recover from illness. Telgi was admitted to a private hospital in Pune on Monday following complaints of uneasiness, fever and vomiting. On Wednesday, prison officials, who appeared before the magistrate through video conferencing, sought time to produce Telgi.
