The State Police is at the threshold of change, it is said. There seems to be an urge among policemen to interact with the public if the number of books being brought out by some of them is any indication. Two of the books are put on display and sale at the venue of the ongoing State meeting of the Kerala Police Association. Janathipathiyathile Police (Police in democracy) by Wilson Isaac, a policeman at Thrikakkara Police Station, had its share of controversy for criticising the present mode of operation. Patrathil Varaatha Varthakal (News that do not appear in newspapers), a collection of short stories written by P. Selvaraj, a havildar at Mangattuparambu Training Camp of Kerala Police, is a softer attempt to depict life in uniform. Also, there are banners announcing launching of a work by P.C. Kunjukunju, an office-bearer of the association, during the meeting.
