BIJAPUR: The Indi Etha Neeravari Horata Samiti on Wednesday organised a "bike jatha" as part of its agitation seeking the implementation of the Indi Lift Irrigation Scheme as per the original plan. Members of the samiti have been staging dharna at Thamba village in Indi taluk for over a week now. According to the original master plan for utilisation of the Krishna waters under Scheme "A" of the Bachawat Tribunal award, the canal system, a component of Upper Krishna Project (UKP), was to be laid up to 147 km. However, the revised plan has shortened it to 97 km depriving 25 villages of irrigation facility. The new plan envisages implementation of the remaining stretch under Scheme "B" of the award.
