India condemns violence in Sri Lanka

Diplomatic Correspondent

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday referred to "unfortunate developments" in Sri Lanka and condemned all violence, especially the loss of civilian lives, including that of children.

Responding to the dastardly killing of bus passengers, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said India was "monitoring" the situation in Sri Lanka.

In a separate development, the spokesman said India had noticed press reports about the demolition of a `krishna mandir' in Lahore and taken up the matter with Pakistani authorities.
