V. K. Duggal to take stock of security scenario today

NEW DELHI: Concerned over intelligence reports of a possible escalation of militant violence in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre will conduct a high-level security review in Srinagar on Friday.

Union Home Secretary V.K. Duggal will visit Srinagar to review the arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra and take stock of the general security scenario, particularly in the wake of the recent attack on Nepali and Bihari labourers. Mr. Duggal will be accompanied by the Directors-General of the Border Security Force and the Central Reserve Police Force. The Director-General of Military Operations and Intelligence Bureau chief E.S.L. Narasimhan will also attend the meeting.

Official sources said Mr. Duggal and other officials would also review the arrangements for yet another bus service on the Poonch-Rawalkot sector.
