PSA Sical Terminals commences China-Middle East service

Third new mainline service at Tuticorin Port

  • First ship arrives at Tuticorin
  • CMS will deploy six vessels

CHENNAI: Tuticorin Container Terminal (TCT), operated by PSA Sical Terminals Limited, on Thursday announced the commencement of the China-Middle East (CMS) direct service that will link TCT to Singapore and China.

The first ship under this service, MV Wan Hai 302, arrived at TCT on Wednesday, according to a release. This is the third direct mainline service to call at Tuticorin after the India-U.S. Express, which commenced last month, and the round-the-world mainline service, which kicked off in 2004.

Operated by Wan Hai Lines, the CMS service will deploy six vessels of capacities ranging from 2,200 to 2,400 twentyfoot equivalent units (TEUs). The port rotation will be Tuticorin, Port Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Xing Ang, Ningbo, Shekou, Jebel Ali, Bander Abbas and Karachi before returning to Tuticorin. John Quok, General Manager, PSA Sical, said, "This service is a continuing reiteration of our long-term commitment to our customers to bring in world-class logistics solutions in order to facilitate development of critical infrastructure in supporting the acceleration of India's international trade.

"With these direct mainline services and an extensive network of feeder services, we will be able to meet the growing demand for connectivity not only between important cities in the China-Middle East sea route but also with the other key international ports."
